Michael's Biography MICHAEL VANCUREN


A resident of the Outer Banks for 20 years, I grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia. Like most people that lived close to the Outer Banks, I too spent many years enjoying the pleasures the Outer Banks had to offer.

My parents moved to the Outer Banks in 1969 opening several well-known restaurants that are still in operation today. By this time I had left for college and would visit during the summers to help in the family business and like most college students enjoy my summers at the beach.

After completing my college education I went to work at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock. Starting as an apprentice and working my way up the corporate ladder to General Foreman. I left this career to return to the Outer Banks and rejoin my family in the Restaurant Business. This is truly a business that you have to love if you want to maintain your sanity. After 15 years of managing my own restaurant. My wife must of thought I was losing my sanity and convinced me to join her in the Real Estate business. I must of thought so too because I didn’t hesitate to take her up on her offer. Thus The M & M Team is born. You may ask yourself how we can work so close together every day. It’s easy. We are best friends and have been through 3 children and 4 grandchildren. It is our commitment to family that makes The M & M Team work. So much so that our daughter, Dawn has joined us as well as an Associate Broker. I guess you might say it’s a family affair. A family with a combined 25 years in the Real Estate Business.
